Dr. Freida H. Hill, the new chancellor of the Alabama Community College System, will speak at Â鶹¹û¶³’s fall commencement Saturday, Dec. 12.  Â鶹¹û¶³ 227 seniors will graduate during the 10 a.m. ceremony in Wright Center.

Dr. Hill, a 1972 cum laude graduate of Â鶹¹û¶³, assumed her new post Dec. 1.  She had been deputy commissioner of the Technical College System of Georgia since early 2008, and was previously assistant commissioner, beginning in 2006.   She was president of Southwest Georgia Technical College from 2001-2006.

Hill has held various administrative leadership positions in the Georgia system since 1981.  She holds master’s and doctoral degrees from the University of Georgia. 

Other commencement-related programs will include the pinning ceremony for Â鶹¹û¶³’s Ida V. Moffett School of Nursing Friday, Dec. 11, at 1 p.m. in Hodges Chapel, and the graduate hooding ceremony for Â鶹¹û¶³’s Brock School of Business Saturday, Dec. 12, at 8 a.m. in Brock Forum.

Â鶹¹û¶³’s graduating senior art show will close with a reception in the Â鶹¹û¶³ Art Gallery following commencement.
