A golf tournament benefiting the Lonnie Funderburg Lectureship at Â鶹¹û¶³'s Ida V. Moffett School of Nursing will be held Oct. 8 at Highland Park Golf Course in Birmingham.

The lectureship honors Dr. Funderburg, who was director of anesthesia at Birmingham Baptist Hospital for 32 years. He helped launch Â鶹¹û¶³'s baccalaureate nurse anesthetist program in the mid-1970s.

The annual lectureship provides for a visiting lecturer to speak to students and faculty in Â鶹¹û¶³'s new graduate-level anesthesia degree program. Last year's inaugural golf tournament raised $4,000 for the fund. The first lectures were presented in October.

Entry fee for the four-person scramble tournament is $100, with special sponsorships available ranging from $400 to $1,200.

Tee time start is 8 a.m. Awards presentations will be made at 12:30 p.m. Registration deadline is Sept. 28.
