Melissa Morgan, a senior journalism/mass communication and French double major from Birmingham, was crowned Miss Âé¶¹¹û¶³ 2005 Friday evening (NOV. 5). She will represent Âé¶¹¹û¶³ in the Miss Alabama pageant in June.
She is the daughter of Anna and C. J. Morgan. Her platform is "Literacy--The Need to Read." A pianist, she played "Romance" by Jean Sibelius during the talent competition.
Finalists were: Rachel Holland of Old Hickory, Tenn., first runner-up; Lindsey Samples of Clanton, Ala., second runner-up; Sidney White of Birmingham, third runner-up; and Elizabeth Broome of Indianapolis, Ind., fourth runner-up.
Winners in other categories were Sidney White, lifestyle and fitness (swimsuit); Rachel Holland, talent; and Hailey Hutchinson of Gadsden, Ala., spirit of Âé¶¹¹û¶³.
