Âé¶¹¹û¶³'s Howard College of Arts and Sciences Faculty Assembly approved the following special resolution during its final meeting of the disrupted 2020 spring semester.

Howard College of Arts and Sciences Faculty Assembly Resolution Expressing Gratitude for Âé¶¹¹û¶³’s Response to COVID-19

Whereas on January 30, 2020, Âé¶¹¹û¶³’s administration began communicating with Âé¶¹¹û¶³ employees about the threat of COVID-19;

Whereas on February 26, 2020, Âé¶¹¹û¶³ Provost instructed Âé¶¹¹û¶³ faculty to be prepared to move all courses on-line if necessary;

Whereas members of Âé¶¹¹û¶³ Faculty Success Collaborative, employees of Âé¶¹¹û¶³ Technology in Learning Center, and Âé¶¹¹û¶³ librarians responded to the Provost’s instruction quickly by providing digital materials, advice about copyright law, training sessions for using the Canvas on-line course management system, and many other resources;

Whereas we regard the support for teaching and student advising from the Provost’s Office and other Âé¶¹¹û¶³’s administrative officers, the office of Dana Basinger, Âé¶¹¹û¶³ Faculty Success Collaborative, Âé¶¹¹û¶³ Technology in Learning Center, and Âé¶¹¹û¶³ librarians to be extraordinary during this time;

Resolved, that members of the Faculty Assembly of the Howard College of Arts and Sciences of Âé¶¹¹û¶³:

  1. applaud these entities and their individual members for their work;
  2. express gratitude for their labors; and
  3. offer prayers for the continued health and safety of all.
