The Âé¶¹¹û¶³ community is mourning the death of Joyce R. Wheeler, wife of Research Professor Ruric E. Wheeler, former Chair of Âé¶¹¹û¶³’s Math Department, Dean of Howard College of Arts and Sciences and Vice President for Academic Affairs.
Âé¶¹¹û¶³ learned of Mrs. Wheeler’s death this morning, Nov. 2, 2012.Joyce Wheeler is remembered for her active role in many aspects of campus life, especially Âé¶¹¹û¶³ Auxiliary (now Legacy League). She, along with Ruric Wheeler, was a member of Âé¶¹¹û¶³’s Founders Circle, a group of Âé¶¹¹û¶³ supporters who donated to the university for 40 years or more. Mrs. Wheeler also is remembered through the Dr. Ruric E. and Joyce R. Wheeler Endowed Scholarship in Âé¶¹¹û¶³’s Math Department.
